Confluence scour

The erosion depth after a confluence point in a river can be approximated with the following equation:

in which :

c₀ = material dependent coefficient [-]

h₀ = average depth of the both upstream river branches [m]

y_m,s = equilibrium erosion depth [m]

The value of c0 lies between 1.29 for very fine sand and 2.24 for gravel.
