Seiches
The calculation rule provides an estimate of the
Eigen period (resonance period) of a rectangular harbour basin. In this
friction is neglected. It is also possible to determine the average water
depth in a harbour if the wave period and the length of the harbour are known
Equation used :

in which:
- g = acceleration of gravity (= 9.81) [m/s2]
- h = average water depth [m]
- L = length of the basin (in the direction of the seiche) [m]
- n = number of nodal point in the harbour (0 - i) [-]
i = max. number of nodal points in the harbour [-]
- Te = Eigen period [s]
